Gazal - Gazlan Line

     Gazal VII was born in 1944 in Babolna, Hungary by the outstanding stallion Gazal II.  He is described as "having an imposing frame and crest of neck, very marked withers, a long croup with smooth and dry coupling and joints; with great self confidence and calmness.  He stood 15.31/2 hands. Gazal VII has been called the Stallion of the Century, the embodiment of the breeding goal of the modern Shagya Arabian. Altogether there were 19 licensed sons of Gazal VII at stud in Germany. Several of his sons have been used in other German Warmblood breeds, including Czardas (Hanoverian), Gazal (Trakehner and East Friesian), Anakreon (Hanoverian), Nasrallah (Trakehner), and Amor (Trakehner, Hanoverian and Rheinlander).

Shagya Line

Shagya was a gray stallion bred by the Banu Sakr tribe, of Syria, in 1830.  The Shagya breed is named after him.

O'Bajan was imported to Babolna from Tell-El-Keladi, Syria in Aug. 1885.

Koheilan Lines-
including Kuhailan Haifi, Kuhaylan Afas, Kuhaylan Zaid

Kuhailan-Haifi (by Kuhailan Kharas) was a bay colt born in 1923, bred by the Ruala tribe.  He was purchased in 1931 by the Gumniska Stud in Krakow, Poland.  He was described as “not large, but dry, splendid legs, a long neck, a noble head with distended thin and movable nostrils, a splendid highly carried tail”.  He died in 1934.

Siglavy/Siglavy Bagdady Lines

Siglavy was born in 1810 in Syria came to the Stud in Lipizza in 1816. The Siglavy typify the Arab Lipizzaner with aristocratic heads, a slender neck, high withers and a relatively short back. Siglavy also founded a sire line in the Shagya breed.

Bairactar Line

Bairactar was acquired in the desert 1817 by Baron von Fechtig.  He is founder of the oldest existing stallion family in Poland today.  He stood at Weil until his death in 1838.

Misc Sire Lines

     Dahoman was bay, bred in 1846 near Bozra by the Djelas Tribe of the Anazeh. He was purchased in 1852 by Major von Gottschligg for Babolna. In 1856 he was sent to the Artillerie-Equitation in Vienna whence he was later acquired by Count Juliusz Dzieduszycki for his stud at Jarczowce. 
     Hami was a chestnut, bred in 1851 by the Ruala. He was purchased for Babolna by Oberst R. von Brudermann in 1857 and later transferred to Mezegyes. In 1868 he was bought by Count Juliusz Dzieduszycki for use at Jarczowze and in 1877 sold him to Count Alexander Branicki at Janiszowka.
     Smyrna, dam of Souakim, was imported to Redefin in 1894, carrying Souakim.  She was purchased from an Arabian in Damascus for Duke Adolph Friedrich of Mecklenburg. Souakim stood at Weil from 1899-1910.
